Building interfaces between IBM and cloud solutions

This blog is about standards, about the IBM solutions Quickr / Notes / Connections and about the cloud solutions like Dropbox, Amazon S3, Google Docs, Windows Azure, SkyDrive, file and ftp server. With files I mean documents like word, excel, pdf and so on.

Lets start with an example: you want to sync the files in IBM Connections with Google Docs. All files in IBM Connections are send to Google Docs. Changes made in these two systems are synced to each other. Bottom line, the systems are kept in sync. The sync system will act as a server based system and it will sync every 10 minutes.

Its easy to setup this sync system because of certain programs supporting standards like WebDAV. Because of these standards its possible to connect systems to each other. So what do we need. First we need the Lialis WebDAV server. This piece of software will translate the IBM Quickr, Connections and Notes databases to the WebDAV protocol. Next you can purchase AllWay Sync. This program understands the standard WebDAV and is able to sync a WebDAV server with for example Google Docs or a file server. It even allows you to sync a WebDAV system to Google Docs and the File server in the same time.

With this setup you can sync the following systems between each other, so every system listed in this table can be synced with the others.
